Solid Core Aluminum Panels
What is ACM Aluminum Panel?
ACM (Aluminum Compound Material) is a stable, archival painting surface with a solid plastic core between two thin aluminum sheets.
Why would an artist choose this material?
- 3mm thick panel (just slightly thinner than 1/8")
- small and oversized paintings
- resistance to humidity, mold, mildew, and swelling
- its primer bonds well with gesso for various mediums: oils, acrylics, mixed media, and watercolors
- may be used for applications in art prints, inkjet, screen printing, and photography
- can be sanded for ideal texture
- commonly used for mounting linen, canvas, or image transfers
- its rigidity simplifies framing without needing a backing board
