Hardboard Panel

Our 1/8” thick hardboard panel offers an exceptionally smooth painting surface. Hardboard has a higher density than more lightweight panels we offer, and can be used with or without gesso, depending on your preference for your desired surface.  Artists often choose this material because of its lower cost, while still providing a sturdy surface that reduces the likelihood of paint cracking as it dries and ages. 

Framing Recommendation:

Frames with a traditional mount: Hardboard panels of any size fits securely with any traditionally mounted frame.  This style of frame displays the artwork by it being placed directly behind the wood, covering 1/4" of the outside edge of the canvas.

Frames with a floated panel: Our floated frame design accommodates hardboard panels up to 12".  If your panel is larger than 12" and you are using a floated frame, we recommend selecting one of our cradled hardboard panels.
